It’s a nice combination of speed and glide that many have come to love. But, do to the numbers, where it ends up at the end is a little less predictable when I throw it hard and flat, because the full S flight will vary with speed thrown. Overall, we’d rate the Discraft Buzzz OS at 5, 4, 0, 3. The Buzzz SS and the Mako3 both have a speed rating of 5. The Buzzz SS comes in the options Z, Z FLX, ESP, and Titanium. I ended up bagging 2 star mako3's (one 180g and one 171g) to really get the most out of that amazing disc. The fade of the Buzzz OS was certainly there, and is strong, but isn’t mind blowing. While both discs will stay pretty straight when thrown, the Buzz SS will fade a little at the end. The Buzzz SS turn rating is -2, and for the Mako3 it is 0, making the Buzz SS a little easier to throw, but the Mako3 a little more resistant to turning over and thus more accurate in the wind. They’re different discs. As for the Mako or Mako3, I am not sure how this works. The ESP plastic is tough with better grip than the Z line plastic. Both discs are similar to the models that came before them, so if you are already partial to one of these brands, you will likely enjoy these most recent models as well. I don't know that I would compare those two discs, in my experience the Mako3 and Buzzz behave more similarly to each other than the Mako3 and Buzzz SS. A mako3 thrown with a lot of power is gonna want to drift right, or stand up if released on hyzer. If we kept it flat, it would remain flat without any hint of turn. As a woods golfer, I use the buzzz the least of the 4 to the point that I’m not currently bagging it as I have a bunch of extra discs that I’m experimenting with. If you practice with the Mako3 it will teach you how to throw different types of shots. When we gave the Buzzz OS a little hyzer it would hold that angle for the entire flight. This means the Mako3 is able to stay in the air a little longer and cover a little more distance. Then you know your release form is on point. You know the Buzzz is typically the right disc to throw here, but it won’t be stable enough due to the wind. The only physical difference is that the Mako3 has a slightly flatter profile. You can still give it a little angle and throw a flip up to flat and glide straight kinda shit with it, but it isn't naturally as straight as the mako3. You could say that it leans more on speed and power than the glide to help it down the fairway. The Innova disc that flies most like a buzz is the Atlas, although the buzz is a bit longer. The Z FLX combines the durability of the Z plastic with the soft and flexible feel of the FLX plastic, and it is easier to grip, especially in wet conditions. It’s my main woods disc because of this. If you’ve ever wanted an overstable Buzzz from Discraft and didn’t think the Wasp or Hornet filled what you were looking for, the Buzzz OS is, without a doubt, the answer. It will be stable and finish very predictably into the wind. As others have said it takes a bit of work to get a line drive shot but certainly possible.
